Believe it or don't: Golfer hits hole-in-one on her first swing ever

Okay, ready for your you-gotta-be-kidding-me story of the week, if not the year?

Your setting: lovely St. Petersburg, Florida. Your heroine: 62-year-old Norweigan native Unni Haskell, who, after two months' worth of golf lessons, teed up her first-ever shot on a real live golf course.

On the first tee of the nine-hole par-3 Cypress Links in St. Pete, Ms. Haskell pulled out a driver -- this is a hundred-yard hole, but remember, Ms. Haskell had never played before -- and drilled a 75-yard corker that bumped, ran and ended up right in the hole.

That's right ... on the first swing of the first hole of the first course she ever played, Unni Haskell hit a hole-in-one.

"I didn't know it was that big of a deal,'' she told the St. Petersburg Times. "I thought all golfers do this.''

"She stood there and I could tell she was thinking about her grip and posture and everything,'' said PGA teaching pro Rick Sopka, who was with Haskell on the tee. "Then she makes her swing and hits it about 75 yards in the air. It kind of trundled up to the green and I'm like, 'Go in! Go in!' And then I go crazy, screaming and yelling. I give her a big hug. She didn't believe me. Then I said, 'Unni, here's the problem. There's nowhere to go from here but down.' ''

Now, our bitter and cynical culture is such that the immediate reaction is to call shenanigans, to put it politely, on this story. It's got echoes of the infamous Jacqueline Gagne 16-aces-in-six-months story, yes? And much like the two kids who hit back-to-back holes-in-one -- also in Florida, strangely enough -- it's too good of a story to believe. Plus, since the vast majority of us have never hit an ace -- and, obviously, could never match Unni Haskell's feat -- let's admit it, we're jealous as heck.

But it's honestly not that tough to believe. Apparently, Ms. Haskell has played tennis for quite some time. And a 100-yard hole isn't that tough to reach, particularly with a driver. Think about how many people spray golf balls around the course; doesn't it make logical sense that one of them would eventually drop the ball into the hole? It's the golf equivalent of the infinite monkeys on infinite typewriters eventually banging out the works of Shakespeare.

Still, I'm thinking Ms. Haskell missed an opportunity here. After she hit that shot, she should have dropped her clubs and walked away from the game, retiring as The Greatest Golfer In The History of the Universe. Nobody could ever top that.

Well, that's what we call golf....for me....1% skills, 99% lucks....

So sorry for not updating this "marang kerapu kepundeng" site since Dec last year till now, end of Feb 2009. Like I said before, I'm more on reading as compared to writing...

Personally, this 2009 is a good start for me and my family, as we are now officially moved to our own tiny palace in Bangi....AlhamdulilLah. My Sweetie also now in her new office, with a new tasks and responsibilities...all the best Sweetie...CAIYO! CAIYO! CAIYO!.

Last 11th of Feb, my Little Sweetie reached her 3rd year in this world, Happy Birthday Amaaneey!!! I bought a cute pink bicycle for her, as promised.

And of course there was 16th of Feb to us, and now eagerly waiting for our next 13th of March.

We are now looking forward for my Mom to come to our house, and after that we will have a rest for a routine family outing to ...., before going to Kuching for another week. Heemmm...hopefully I manage to handle this, without sacrificing daily responsibilities as a full time student.

Politically, nothing much I can comment here, but it seems still the same as before, talking the same thing (both government side or opposition side)...I really don't know when they will deliver their manifesto...especially for the most complicated state in this world, Perak. One by-election in KT, and now waiting for another two by-elections in Perak and Kedah respectively, and maybe Bukit Lanjan as well?

Arsenal? Still progressing, wait for another posting for my comments. As for golf, I've joined two "mini" tournaments this year, with a quite satisfactory results...

Tomorrow, my x-golf mate Mr. RMN will come home for a short holiday, and next week my great friend Mr. MYA will come to Malaya for a short course, which definitely means we will have a great time for a golfing sessions together.

As to wrap up this posting...have a great time ahead to all of you, make full use of your five matters, before come another five problems to you.

One Month Later....

Salam 'Idul Adha...

It seems that already one month since I last updated my posting here. Hemm...don't know la...I am more on reading others rather than writing...well...

Okey...since this is the bumper issue...one month compilation...to save your time reading (and my time for writing of course..), this posting will only in point form...hehehe another art of writing....

Daily routine activity with Mr. Lecturer (sometimes with Mr. Student and Mr. Teacher) at few other courses...monitoring the progress of maintaining the quality of grass...plus basic inspection on hill slopes...water quality as well as testing on how eroded the soil is...
Busy with the logistics things for our 5 days Fieldwork Trip to Gua Tempurung, Perak. I really enjoy the jungle trekking and cave exploring, but personally I hate trekking with a big group...(miss a lot 3 days trekking with another 3 friends to Gunung Tembat, Kenyir few years ago...)
Sad news about my good friend (who had lost his 1st baby due to meningitis), the baby just 2 months old, died in Sheffield. To Mr. MFG, be tough my friend...I know it is a difficult time for you and your wife...but life must go on...Al-Faatihah.
KK Trip. MySweetie's outstation to KK = Our vacation. Like Vin Diesel in The Pucifier...I have to travel with my little sweetie to KK with the different flights. Challenging but entertaining. Bringing my daughter to Sapi Island...two rounds (Mimpian Jadi and Sutera Harbour) with good friend Mr. YA...chicken wings at my favourite TLC...Javanese Fried Banana at Gaya Street...blablabla....
PPTD FC outing to Lumut. Driving with Mr. Gattuso and Mr. Arel...Orchard Inn...lost to TLDM 3-4, 6th place in our mini golf tounament at DLGCC, won over MPM 3-2.
Al-Fatihah to my great grandmother, died during performing her Hajj in Mecca...Al-Fatihah.
The Gunners beat Chelsea...hahaha...same as Man U...Go Gunners Go!!!
My sister wedding on 2nd day of 'Idul Adha....with her soulmate from Nilam Puri, Kelantan. Congratulation ChiQ!!!.
Frustrated with few statements from various "kangkung" about Bukit Antarabangsa tragedy. I switched off my radio during the 7 o' clock news...I'm impressed at a talking parrot, but I really hate the "talking parrot"...make a retoric press statement...starting to blame each other...shame on you guys!!!
Enjoying good articles (I appreciate the honest person, talking straight from their heart) from Pyanhabib and Uncle Husin (I guess it is your blog uncle...betul ke?).

An evening after the exam!!!

Salam to all...

It is not a July 4th, not an August 31st, not as any special date, but today is my Merdeka Day...at least for this semester. Yes, I just finished final exam for this semester, thanks God it is all over, now tawakkal for the results, then go to the next stage, this January 09...insyaAllah.

So, what next? After few weeks stints with the books, notes, discussions etc, without heavy outdoor activities, sacrificing some quality time with my family, especially the little one, I think I deserve a good rest, with my great lovely family.

As a start, immediately after this, I plan to bring my little daughter to have her happy time, to the KizSport at GEM, enjoying slides, see-saw etc. Then of course for our routine weekly activity, have a leisure time together at the lake side of Titiwangsa. Enjoying nice green view in the cosy evening, it is a great pleasure for me. Observing peoples those are busy with their activities, some of them enjoying the beauty of environment, but some of them are damaging the cleanliness of nature.

I hope after this I can spare my time to update this green little screen, lots of activities yet to be updated here....although it’s a bit late to share, but much better than never. Golf...tournament...football...victory...lost...working with the green company...wedding...etc.

So, as for now, I put a dot here, it’s already ‘Asr praying time, see you again next posting...new updates, new stories, new experiences...but still with the green attitude.

The Gunners vs The Red Devils...

It is nearly a month since my last posting. It is due to my 24 hours a day are fully occupied with several activities and other daily routines...and the most important thing is I'm struggling for the exam...

Anyway, since my favourite Gunners just won over the Red Devils in the BPL few minutes ago...I would like to attach that happy news here as to share with other Gunners' Fan...

Arsenal 2-1 Manchester United

Arsenal beat Barclays Premier League champions Manchester United 2-1 at the Emirates Stadium.

Arsene Wenger got the response he wanted as Arsenal bounced back from last week's defeat to Stoke City, with victory over United.

Gunners manager Wenger admitted dressing-room morale was low after their draw with rivals Tottenham Hotspur and defeat to Stoke - but Saturday's win breathes life into their campaign and lifts them above United in the Barclays Premier League table.

Goals from Samir Nasri provided the attacking threat, taking advantage of slack marking in each half to grab his fourth and fifth of the season.

Rafael da Silva, on as a substitute, volleyed home to give Sir Alex Ferguson's men hope, but it was not enough as Arsenal claimed the points.

I wish that I could write something tonite...but since the exam is just around the corner, I have no choice but must concentrate to my studies...well, slow and steady....keep it on the fairway...and you'll safe...

Firstly...I would like to take this opportunity to wish my good friend, Mr. RMN who is now somewhere in Germany..."all the best in any golfing activities there, and take a good rest by reading some books...hehehe...

Anyway...this is the report of our Wednesday's PPTD FC friendly match...the first game after 'Idul Fitr, nicely reported by Mr. AmatHenry...but it is in Malay...

10 Okt, Padang ILSAS - PPTDFC kembali menggegar gol di padang ILSAS selepas memasing balik raya. Dijangkakan ramai pemain kehilangan konsistensi namun PPTDFC membuktikan memasing masih penuh angin dengan menjadikan BAnk Rakyat sebagai mangsa dengan kemenangan 5 gol tanpa balas. Clean sheet kali ke-6 kali ni diterajui oleh defend - Ajak, Bern, Shuk, jusNani, Amir dan Ariel dan jugak Pak MAun.

PPTDFc menyerang ganas seawal permainan. raden yg ketika itu diletakkan sbg top strekar hampir menjaringkan gol awal selepas bola hantaran Amathenry dr kiri hanya perlu dikuis sikit je utk masuk lam gol. Tapi Raden yang bnyk lemaknya gagal mengejar bola tesebt dan bola hanya kena sikit je kaki dia lalu bola tu out utk gol kick. Hampeh.

PPTDFC memulakan kenduri gol menerusi Jaie yang menanduk kemas hantaran Awang dari belah kanan. gol kedua juga dari Jaie yang menyambung try Payjal. Kalau Jaie x sambung pun bola tu dah kompom masuk.. tp sbb Jaie agak gatal kakinya nak menyecore sentuhkan jugak la kaki dia tu ngn bola tu. Jaie hampir mencatat hatrik pd 1st half namun bola hantaran Amathenry dr belah kiri gagal ditankap kemas hampir masuk ke dalam gol. Tapi ntah apa la aksi sarkas yg coba dibuktikan oleh Jaie, dia merembat kencang bola yg dah nak lepas line gol tp bola tu kena tiang and keluar dari gol.

Raden yg td gagal score bagaimanapun berjaya menebus kegagalannya td dgn menyumbat gol ketiga utk PPTDFC selepas rembatan x brp derasnya tetap berjaya menewaskan keeper lawan. kedudukan kekal 3-0 tamat separuh masa babak pertama.

BAbak kedua menyaksikan tambahan 2 gol lagi menerusi Jaie yg melarikan bola secara solo selepas menerima hantaran Pak Maun dan rembatan derasnya gagal ditampan oleh keeper lawan. Gol ke-5 dan yag terakhir diperolehi oleh Ajak yang tukar posisi dengan Raden setelah menanduk cantik bola hantaran Amathenry yg lebih cantik dan manis, semanis air berperisa gadis yang dibawa tetiap minggu.

Tahniah kepada pemain2 yg telah menunjukkan komitmen yg agak baik lepas raya. meamng ramai gak la yang datang... cuma datang tu bior le awal sikit.. la ni maghrib awal. Tak pueh main kalao start game lambat. kojap ye ane vellu kesayangan raden dah tiup wisel.

Jersi ari tu dibawak oleh Ajak and Bern. Bola dan air manis mandian gadis abg Amathenry bawak cam biasa.

Kepada yg lelain, kalo x boleh turun, helo-helo la email ni tanda support. kalu bleh dtg n turun main tetiap minggu lagi bagus. takde la kena seranah ngn Abg Jali hawhawhaw..

Post 'Idul Fitr 1429H

Salam...

How's your 'Idul Fitr? Quite exhausted but personally satisfied with my 'Idul Fitr celebration this year. Spending 5 days at my hometown...hmmm...I may consider it as one of the "nikmat" from Allah to us.

Like usual, my green compound ground will always turned to a massive "battlefield" on every "raya" night. Lots of fire...lots of "gedegum" sound...lots of colours....once a year celebration...as to spice up the "hari raya". While men are busy with "ngeccung", women are always busy with annual BBQ...this year all of us manage to gather together (Mr. Ayoi, not your together-gather...hehehe)...the 49ners...this is the only time where my great strict dad can tolerate with the noise of "ngeccung". Well..."dok ape ahh...anok cucu balik sekali-sekala....".

The rest of celebration? I guess it must be the same as yours...visiting each other...

Wokey...post-celebration? Time to travel again...appreciating the green view of highway trees...but now i take a coastal road of KayTee-Dungung-Kemamang-Cherating-LPT-Karak-KayEl. At least i can get a green view with a slight blue background of South China Sea.

During the journey...somewhere Pulau Kerengga, my Soulmate starts mumbling about the time taken to KayEl will always much longer than time taken from KayEl to KayTee. Well dear...heavy traffic...of course la...hehehe...it is not that I'm slowing my pace...My little sweetie enjoying the nice view of the sea...along the coastal road of Terengganu. Anyway...I know you Sweetie...thanks a lot...next? 'Idul Adha la pulak kot...hehehe.

Another routine when coming back to Terengganu is a mandatory. Buying some (more than some kot...) "keropok lekor" or better known as "fish sausage"...hehehee...While most of us struggling at Pengkalan Atap or Losong or 007 for their "kherppok", my pit stop will always a small stall just before the Kemaman "pintu gerbang". Reasons? To avoid the good smell of "kherppok" in my car, as well as to maintain the freshness of it after arriving in KayEl. After all, it is still of course "kherppok Teranung" right? On top of that...personally, it is a good quality of "kherppok", and it is translated by a long queue of people, waiting their turn for a pack of this special fishy sausage (those are chasing Awang Goneng while swimming at Pantai Batu Buruk).

BUT...it is again being spoilt by low-ethical yet selfish people, who are wandering everywhere in this world. Can you imagine...while others are queuing patiently for a turn (not less than ten hungry people, including me of course), this gentleman is "sardin-ly" jump to the front, and asking for a "kherppok". It is okey to do that, but the mistake is he did it in front of me, where it is during my turn (after almost 45 minutes queuing). Being an "Anti Cut-Q" society, it is lesson for this gentleman...with a high volume lecture in front of others..."tua ke?...raya ke?..." it is none of my business. Anyway, to Mr. "X", I'm so sorry to be like that, because you turn me to be an "Incredibly Green". Morale of the story, be patient, respects the others, and be good. It will not harm you, kill you or maybe affects your high status.

Reaching KayEl just before 'Asr, unloading things etc., make us very tired, so we had our dinner at "Chitralada Palace" in Great Eastern Mall. And then, enjoying my Gunners team against Sunderland (draw 0-0) plus my favourite "Bourne Ultimatum".

My Green Sweet Home...

Salam to all...

Like most of the us...we are going back to our hometown during this 'Idul Fitr. We will striving in whatever means and capacity as long as we can reach our hometown before Hari Raya. And as for me...I'm driving with my sweetie co-pilot and one little sweetie passenger...all the way from KL to KT, eastern part of Peninsular.

We took off at 9 am, through peaceful LPT highway...exit at Jabor and went through the green view of palm oil plantations along the way of Jabor - Jerangau. As a law abiding citizen, driving according to the speed limit is quite sleepy, especially in the afternoon, but thanks God there is no traffic congestion along my journey so we managed to arrive at Green Home before 3 pm, with one pit stop (but no as quick as Ferrari's Massa during the Singapore F1 last Sunday...hehehe) to help the petrol pump operator as well as for my little sweetie having her light lunch.

I arrived at a 10th places out of 13 of us...followed by my little brother at 4 pm (by plane from KLIA), and my sister from Dungun at 6 pm whereas another sister will come back tomorrow.

As usual...just before arriving my Green Home, it is like a routine for me to have a sight to my childhood green football field (where Rosdi Talib, Subri Sulung, Zulharisham Awang, Hairuddin Omar and few others were born), but now being completely transformed to a bushes by a greedy local contractor. With some bulks of allocation from the government, they supposed to improve our field, but they turned it otherwise...so, no more football boot for me during "balik kampung". Positive thinking? I "have" to come home with a golf set, to keep enjoying green view at Tuanku Mizan Golf Club in Kuala Ibai or Kuala Terengganu Golf Club in my neighbouring Gong Badak.

The 1st thing that I'm eager to do is heading to Sixth Stone Avenue or better known as "Pasor Batu Nang" to the locals. This is the heaven for me to choose variety of local delicacies which are not found in KL (or could be found but taste differently). This time I have "Rojok Kateh" (it is one of the famous Fear Factor Challenge - eating cow's ear, nose etc.) and Rojok Betik (shredded papaya, pineapple and cucumber with a sweet hot fishy gravy). Aiman Amani may have her own idea about this delicacies. Hemmm...like our local saying..."kena semangkuk, nenggok ahh" to express the real satisfaction.

Another routine for me is having a cup of tea (cups of it actually) with few good friends during my primary school life at night after Tarawikh. From sports, politics, business as well as vacations are well-discussed. But this time, short of one forumer as Mr. TMUTM are "being forced" to celebrate 'Idul Fitr at his wife's in Ipoh and will only come back to us on the 2nd of Syawal. So, with Mr. AY, Mr. AFY and Mr. AHHAR, the chats still on and hot, as usual especially regarding political matters, of course.

Tonight, as all the 13 are together again, there will a BBQ, with a "war-like" moments to the kids, having their fireworks and fire crackers.

Salam to all my dear followers (if any la...hehehe)...

Well, so sorry for leaving this green screen quite sometimes...due to unavoidable missions to be accomplished before this coming 'Idul Fitr break.

Worrait...what happen for the past few weeks? Actually I went to fast breaking at numerous places, namely the green Marche for a nice buffet with my wife and her best friend from KK, the SOHO Restaurant at Bangi with my wife and my daughter, then to the Monterez Golf Club for my re-union of x-PPP/ITM...with all old friends (nice to meet you all guys), plus another buffet with all MCS friends at PICC restaurant. (nicely organised by Mr. MKAG) Details of the events? You can refer to my sweetie's blog.

What else haa? Yaa...after the last posting, I managed to enjoy the green view at Seri Selangor with Mr. STR, plus 4 times at UPM (hehehe...only RM20 for 18 holes maaa...student rate maa...) with another x-PPP/ITM friend who are now becoming my new neighbour at green park, somewhere in Bangi.

Anymore? Yaaa...I went through a very hectic days for the past few weeks...dealing with the assignments as well as mid-term test. Plus another problem of red-tape in my former office. Why? It is since end of June JPA asked for our personal matters in order for them to prepare for our confirmation. Well, welcome to my office...where the culture of "malam ni meeting, pagi esok keluar minit" or "pagi meeting, petang keluar minit". Chiitt...Poodahh...yennadey!!!! On the day my colleague call from KKLW telling that they just received their confirmation letter from JPA (on the 22nd of Sept to be exact), my tip-top administative officer told me that they will send my personal matters this afternoon....Hello....from end of June till 22nd of Sept for a compilation of personal matters (which is of course already in my personal files?). Come on la...

Lastly, since it is now almost 7.00pm, I would like to wrap up with a special wish "Happy 'Idul Fitr" to all of you, drive carefully, may Allah bless you and the most important one is please fully utilise the opportunity to be with your parents, while they are still alive....(please refer to TM Net' s advertisement).

I'm so sorry for whatever I've done, "zahir & batin". I'm going back to my KayTee tomorrow till this coming Saturday....

Ramadhan Buffet and Another Golfing Session...

Salam to all...

Well...today we are already on the 11th day of our Ramadhan this year...and we are now on the 2nd portion of a month (to achieve marghfirah or "keampunan"). Alhamdulillah for me personally everything went smoothly so far.

Worrait...talking about the "iftar" or fast breaking session, it is now become a common scenario especially in Klang Valley for the restaurants or hotels to compete among themselves with their offer for the Ramadhan Buffet. From traditional to modern delicacies, from eastern foods to the western one...of course at different price for the different quality.

As for me, so sorry to say that I don't even bother about those things. I'm fasting in my own traditional way. However, as to fulfill my daughter's request (or you may read it as her mother's actually), a whole of my family (as big as 3 of us) and our maid went to Nelayan Restaurant at Titiwangsa yesterday to have a steamboat buffet. During peak hours, with the heavily congested traffic, we managed to reach there by 6.15pm. Thinking of it's still early, I plan to bring my little daughter for a walk but my sweetie said it is better for us to register and have a good chat at the table...

As expected, a bunch of hungry people are already seeking their "fortune" to have their "paid food". Can you imagine they all look like a group of piranha waiting for their victims to be served. In simple Malay words..."sampai udang, habis udang, sampai ketam, habis ketam..." I mean the process of transferring the food from the counter to the tables are very fast...and it is just 6.30pm. Hello people...are you dying? Come on...it is just an eight hour session for our fasting period, and it is a buffet, yet you are going to have the foods like crazy? Haiyya...

Immediately after that, I start to mumbling to my sweetie (as usual) about the "tragedy". Thinking of that, it seems that the attitude of selfishness and greedy in Malaysia are well adapted. The spirit of Ramadhan are left far away behind. Why not we just eat properly, and think a little bit about our brothers and sisters somewhere around the globe? In positive way of thinking, under current leadership...the economy in the country is still good kot (based on observation at the restaurant la)...hahaha...I put a dot for that...you may go to my sweetie's blog for some pictures.

Enough about food and hungry people...let's talk about sports. Yes, I'm going to have a great time to appreciate great green environment with Mr. STR at Seri Selangor Golf Club this morning. Yeeehaaa...and I'll update about it in my next posting.

By the way, I heard that England team managed to beat Croatia with 4-1. Please don't get me wrong, yes I'm still a "Frenchman", but I'm quite happy with England result since my Gunners player Theo Walcott got their hattrick. Bravo Walcott!!!

Green Polar Bear...

What a green day...and I feel so green this morning...Why? I'd lost my wife's car key whereas her car was parked behind my car (betul ke grammar aku ning?). So instead of she can go to the office by herself, I’ve being forced to become her “Pak Supir” as the key is only found half an hour late from her routine ETD. Haiyya....

Implication? Instead of I post my own writing this morning, I only manage to get this article from Yahoo! regarding our current environmental issue. It’s quite interesting to know that due to the climate change, it is not only will affect our life (I consider human as a main factor that caused a climate change), but indirectly affect the normal life of innocent organism. Here’s the article....

TOKYO - Green polar bears are drawing questions from puzzled visitors at a Japanese zoo.

Three normally white polar bears at Higashiyama Zoo and Botanical Gardens in central Japan changed their color in July after swimming in a pond with an overgrowth of algae.

The sight of green polar bears has prompted many questions from visitors concerned about whether the animals are sick or carrying mold, zoo official Masami Kurobe said Sunday.

"Visitors seem to be shocked by the color, and we are asked every day why they are so green," he said.

High temperatures in July and August and less-frequent water changes because of the zoo's conservation efforts caused an algae growth in the bear pond and safety moat, Kurobe said.

Algae that enters hollow spaces in the bears' fur is hard to rinse off, he said.

The bears are expected to return to their natural color when the algae growth subsides in November, Kurobe said.

Ramadhan and Golf....

Salam to all...

Quite hectic with nothing lately...so hardly find my sweet time to update this green screen...hahaha...

Yaa...for those who are Muslims...I hope everything is going fine...or much better than previous Ramadhan...Insya Allah.

Worrait, back to our business. Tonight I'm going to write about golf...which I believe some of us here are addicted too. (either as a golfer or just as a follower of the champions). I may consider myself as a serious beginner golfer...which it is now become my 1st choice of sports after football of course...

Why golfing? Who are responsible for introducing this heavily addicted type of sports to me? Who is encouraging me other than my sweetie tweety wife? Who are my partners in this crime? Well, some people say with the same scripts I used to express to the golfers before..."Golfing is only for the lazy people in sports and leaving the family behind especially during the weekend."

To begin with, I started to fall in love with it since 2003....where I was organising one tournament for the DO Conference in Selangor. From zero to hero, I have to know all the rules and regulations about golf, the terminology used for it and etc. Being an organising committee is not as satisfied as the personal experience in golfing...so I borrow one old set of weapons from my father-in-law and start to hitting and laughing at the driving range.

Then...after being posted to Sabah, I started to seriously involved in golfing since there were limited time for me in footballing. The person responsibled for bringing me into this golfing matters? Of course my immediate bosses there none other than Mr. ZaCO and Dato' AKAB. I'll never forget their supports and encouragement for me to play golf. From the driving range (basic hitting without laughing) till to the real battlefield, where Mimpian Jadi Golf Resort at Tuaran became my first 18 holes in golfing. What a precious experience!

After that...with complete partners in crime, namely Mr. MYA from Semporna, Mr. ARAH from JB and Mr. AAR from Lahad Datu, golfing became our weekly routine, attacking on every angle of challenges in popular golf courses in Sabah. From Marina Kudat to Borneo at Bongawan, from Karambunai to Shan Shui at Tawau, from Dalit at Tuaran to Tambunan Golf Resort.

After coming back to Malaya...the hobby of viewing green environment with sports continues, but with new partners, leaving behind my great friends MYA and AAR in Sabah. In Malaya, I enjoy my weekly golfing routine still with Mr. ARAH, whereas MYA and AAR being replaced by Mr. RMN, Mr. MKAG, Mr. WAH and few others. Being able to organise mini tournament for my few other colleagues...golfing seems to become my new hobby in sports (I like to play any type of sports; the major problem with me in sports is that once I starts playing anything, I’ll play it seriously).

How serious? Well let’s get back to the topic...Ramadhan and Golf...yes, even though we organise 2 flights golfing just few days before Ramadhan, as a closing game before a 1 month break...unfortunately this morning, after the 4th day of Ramadhan...with my partner WAH, coincidentally finished a 3 hours golfing at UPM Golf Course. Without a drop of water to drink (in fact we can’t drink at all), finishing the 18 holes with 4 pars for the gross of 95 is such a good start for an amateur golfer like me during Ramadhan...what do you think?

Till that, I really missed my golfing partners, especially Mr. ZaCO in Penang, Mr. MYA who is still in KK, Mr. AAR as well as my great buddy Mr. ARAH who is furthering his study in Oklahoma, US.

So guys...watch out...let’s see what we can do after this 'Idul Fitr.

Let's face it; we all don't make millions of dollars a year, and the odds are that most of us won't receive a large windfall inheritance either. However, that doesn't mean that we can't build sizeable wealth — it'll just take some time. If you're young, time is on your side and retiring a millionaire is achievable. Read on for some tips on how to increase your savings and work toward this goal.

Stop Senseless Spending
Unfortunately, people have a habit of spending their hard-earned cash on goods and services that they don't need. Even relatively small expenses, such as indulging in a gourmet coffee from a premium coffee shop every morning, can really add up — and decrease the amount of money you can save. Larger expenses on luxury items also prevent many people from putting money into savings each month.

That said, it's important to realize that it's usually not just one item or one habit that must be cut out in order to accumulate sizable wealth (although it may be). Usually, in order to become wealthy one must adopt a disciplined lifestyle and budget. This means that people who are looking to build their nest eggs need to make sacrifices somewhere — this may mean eating out less frequently, using public transportation to get to work and/or cutting back on extra, unnecessary expenses.

This doesn't mean that you shouldn't go out and have fun, but you should try to do things in moderation — and set a budget if you hope to save money. Fortunately, particularly if you start saving young, saving up a sizeable nest egg only requires a few minor (and relatively painless) adjustments to your spending habits.

Fund Retirement Plans ASAP
When individuals earn money, their first responsibility is to pay current expenses such as the rent or mortgage expenses, food and other necessities. Once these expenses have been covered, the next step should be to fund a retirement plan or some other tax-advantaged vehicle.

Unfortunately, retirement planning is an afterthought for many young people. Here's why it shouldn't be: funding a 401(k) and/or a IRA early on in life means you can contribute less money overall and actually end up with significantly more in the end than someone who put in much more money but started later.

How much difference will funding a vehicle such as a Roth IRA early on in life make?
If you're 23 years old and deposit $3,000 per year (that's only $250 each month!) in a Roth IRA earning an 8% average annual return, you will have saved $985,749 by the time you are 65 years old due to the power of compounding. If you make a few extra contributions, it's clear that a $1 million goal is well within reach. Also keep in mind that this is mostly interest — your $3,000 contributions only add up to $126,000.

Now, suppose that you wait an additional 10 years to start contributing. You have a better job and you know you've lost some time, so you contribute $5,000 per year. You get the same 8% return and you aim to retire at 65. When you reach age 65, you will have saved $724,753. That's still a sizeable fund, but you had to contribute $160,000 just to get there — and it's nowhere near the $985,749 you could've had for paying much less.

Improve Tax Awareness
Sometimes, individuals think that doing their own taxes will save them money. In some cases, they might be right. However, in other cases it may actually end up costing them money because they fail to take advantage of the many deductions available to them.

Try to become more educated as far as what types of items are deductible. You should also understand when it makes sense to move away from the standard deduction and start itemizing your return.

However, if you're not willing or able to become very well educated filing your own income tax, it may actually pay to hire some help, particularly if you are self employed, own a business or have other circumstances that complicate your tax return.

Renting Versus Buying
At some point in our lives, many of us rent a home or an apartment because we cannot afford to purchase a home, or because we aren't sure where we want to live for the longer term. And that's fine. However, renting is often not a good long-term investment because buying a home is a good way to build equity.

Unless you intend to move in a short period of time, it generally makes sense to consider putting a down payment on a home. (At least you would likely build up some equity over time and the foundation for a nest egg.)

Buying Expensive Cars
There's nothing wrong with purchasing a luxury vehicle. However, individuals who spend an inordinate amount of their incomes on a vehicle are doing themselves a disservice — especially since this asset depreciates in value so rapidly.

How rapidly does a car depreciate?

Obviously, this depends on the make, model, year and demand for the vehicle, but a general rule is that a new car loses 15-20% of its value per year. So, a two-year old car will be worth 80-85% of its purchase price; a three-year old car will be worth 80-85% of its two-year-old value.

In short, especially when you are young, consider buying something practical and dependable that has low monthly payments — or that you can pay for in cash. In the long run, this will mean you'll have more money to put toward your savings — an asset that will appreciate, rather than depreciate like your car.

Don't Sell Yourself Short
Some individuals are extremely loyal to their employers and will stay with them for years without seeing their incomes take a jump. This can be a mistake, as increasing your income is an excellent way to boost your rate of saving.

Always keep your eye out for other opportunities and try not to sell yourself short. Work hard and find an employer who will compensate you for your work ethic, skills and experience.

Bottom Line
You don't have to win the lottery to see seven figures in your bank account. For most people, the only way to achieve this is to save it. You don't have to live like a pauper to build an adequate nest egg and retire comfortably. If you start early, spend wisely and save diligently, your million-dollar dreams are well within reach.

How? Is it enough to ignite your spirit to start your journey to become one of the millionaire? I do read some good books nicely written by our local millionaire, Mr. Azizi Ali regarding this topic. However, we as a Muslim must follow the guidelines and principles set by Islam to ensure the "halalness" of our wealth.

Save Our Planet!!!

Salam everybody....

Now I'm going to write about our life, our environment, our earth. Most of my friend said why should we bother about that? Why not we just leave it to the paid caretaker (i.e. Government Officers, private sectors) to conserve our environment? I personally disagree with that point of view, and I do have my own personal opinion about conserving our environment.

Since my childhood life was surrounded by the green environment (muddy paddy field, rows of potatoes and tapioca, green orchard with crystal clear streams), I do miss all those green when I came to Klang Valley last century.

I know that there is something wrong with the culture of conserving the environment in the Klang Valley when I first saw tonnes of rubbish flowing in the beatiful but yellow in colour river, behind our football field of PPP/ITM. I wonder why all this could happen? Is it because of the MPSA (now MBSA) are not doing their job or the people of Shah Alam community are selfish i.e. all other places are dustbins except inside their houses or cars.

That's one of the example...but my colleague said it is normal in Klang Valley, it is still okay since the river is still flowing. Then I know that they will only concern if the river is stop flowing like what was happened in TTDI Jaya recently, when all the houses and cars are surrounded with the flash flood due to the overflow of Damansara river.

Hey people...do you still remember about our Highland Tower Tragedy? I'm still at my High School time when this landslide (due to human factors) swept away one of the towers and grabbed more than 40 lifes. How about our Pos Dipang Tragedy? Then the big floods in Johor? Is it totally because of the nature? Why not we just accept that we deserved this disaster since we don't even care about our nature?

For me it is quite simple...big world always starts with a small family. Yes! Maybe we are not in the position of controlling the world. But we could control our small family right. Why not we just play our role as part of the community to start conserving our environment in whatever capacity, within our control? Properly disposed all the rubbish, provide small travelling dustbin in our cars (for "kulit rambutan", empty water cans/bottles), avoid open burning etc.

Staying at the government servants community (I stayed at the government quarters actually, where majority of us are government officers), it is a shame to see that the rubbish is everywhere, not at its proper place. Inside the lift, at the carparks, at the playground, everywhere. I always mumbling to my other half about the attitude of so called "policy makers" of the country about basic life. If they cannot manage their small community, now I know why the campaigns, programmes, forums or whatever name you might put, only ended with the grand closing ceremony (of course with lots of financial implication...), with lesser impact neither to the participants, nor the "highly competent" organisers.

I always ask my little sweet daughter (3 years old) to throw rubbish in the dustbin at home, not to punish her, but more on inculcating her about conserving the nature. You know what? When I bring her to the evening playground time, she starts collecting water cans, ice cream plastic wrappers and said.."Papa! Ampoh...nok buang..." of course in her own sweet language asking me to help her open the big dustbin just a few feets from the playground to throw that rubbish.

I'm not saying that my daughter is good, but the most important thing here is how we play our role in this small community. Like I said before, we just contribute whatever we could within our capacity, then let the nature handles the rest of the world.

Till that...I missed a lot the scene of the late Pok Teh Mat Che with his buffalo traditionally preparing his muddy paddy field, where my friends and I running behind him catching small fish...in the green surroundings...

A Big World Starts With A Small Family..

So sorry for leaving this green screen quite sometimes...busy with sports, assignments, by-election, budget etc. Actually I've written some info regarding my High School Alumni's Football Team a.k.a DRC FC, unfortunately all my writings gone during the process of final editing before being posted here...hemmm...maybe this is part of the challenge in blogging i guess...

Wokey, since it's still morning and my other half with little cute daughter still enjoying their sleep, I take this opportunity to briefly share about my small family.

Eventhough I come from a big family (13 siblings in total), for the time being I only have one pretty and lovely wife (click here for her blog) with small cute daughter. Well, it's okay for me since our marriage is still new (we tie a knot on 13 of March 200x).

Just a brief history, I knew my wife since our college time at PPP/ITM in 20th century, and we decided to live together as husband and wife in 21st century....hahaha. At the beginning of our marriage, we managed to rent a small hut at Uncle Jalil's hill before I took a challenge for working in Borneo few months after that. Talking about Borneo, I may put it as my second hometown after Terengganu, same as my wife, she also considers the Borneo as part of her life (eventhough she felt so sad at the early stage of being part of KK community).

Staying in KK (we stay at a small green compartment at Likas to be exact), we managed to go to places of interest in Borneo, especially in Sabah. From Gunung Kinabalu to Semporna, from Tips of Borneo in Kudat to Gunung Emas in Tambunan, from Kinabatangan to Sipitang...what a fantastic island.

My wife's favourite place? Of course she will say Phillipine's Market, the place where all the tourists go for locals and imported handicrafts. We helped Dayang's business there in terms of improving her monthly stock turnover...hehehe...and I helped Awie to finish his "ikang keropok", dried shrimps etc.

Back to my small family, our cute daughter also was born there...at SMC to be exact. Weighing 3.63 kg that time, my little NAM now growing up, with her daily routine...Tom & Jerry Show, Pink Panther Show, Courage The Dog, Pocoyo etc. She loves sports as well especially watching Golf Channel with me and enjoying evening walk together.

I guess enough for the time being about this, my other half is repeatedly asking me to bring her to Nilai 3 for some shoppings before Ramadhan and for our new house (tentatively will move there after 'Idul Fitr).

With that, really hope to see you soon, maybe different time and different forum, but still with this same green screen.

Salam everybody...

Like I said, this sweet green screen will tell us about my interest...and I will start it with my PPTD FC weekly friendly match. Unfortunately, for this column, I will just attach full report (written by none other than Mr. Amathenry) of our Wednesday's friendly match.

Briefly about this team...I joined this multi-purpose team since Jan 2003 before I left for a while to Kota Kinabalu and Kota Bharu in 2004 and 2006 respectively. After coming back from those places, I re-joined it and till now actively playing on every Wednesday.

It's led by Mr. WarQue of MAKSAK...since 1995 I guess, until today. Our activities are weekly friendly match, inter-city trip (such as to Kedah, Sabah, Sarawak, Pahang, Negeri Sembilan etc.) at least twice a year, filled up with footbal match, golf, badminton, karaoke as well as other social activities.

So, to begin with...here is the complete report of our previous match (we played against Mahathir Guchil's GSFC) which are written by Mr. Amathenry. I'm very sorry since it's nicely written in Malay, but I may translate it for those who are interested, of course upon your request.

13 Ogos, Padang ILSAS - PPTDFC terus mengekalkan rentetan kemenangan ke atas pasukan paling kerap bertemu dgn PPTDFC tahun ni - Gerbang Serantau - dengan kemenangan tipis 4-3 petang semalam. PPTDFC jelas menguasai perlawanan semalam dan mampu menghasilkan lebih bnyk jaringan namun ntahapa la halnya bnyk peluang gol disia2kan oleh Amathenry yg tidak menemui sasaran gol semalam.

PPTDFC berpeluang mendahului menerusi sepakan penalti setelah PAyjal ke ntah dikasari dlm petak D. KApten pasukan, Wak mengambil tanggungjawab utk menyepak. Meskipun berjaya memperdaya golkeeper namun bola sekadar menyentuh tiang dan bukan jaring gol.

Gerbang menghukum susulan drpd kegagalan penalti tsbt apabila memperolehi gol pendahuluan hasil kesilapan golkeeper PPTDFC Abg Jali yg clear tak betul dan bola dapat dirampas lawan. Anmun begitu PAyjal menyamakan kedudukan menerusi satu rembatan kencang kaki kiri yg mengenai palang dan terus masuk ke dalam gol.

Gerbang meperoleh gol pendahuluan sekali lagi apabila sepakan corner disambung oleh strekar depa dan tiada defend PPTDFC di near post. Abg JAli tak mampu wat pape.

Gol penyamaan dan kedua menyusul seketika kemudian dan diperoleh menerusi satu setpiece cantik PAyjal dan disempurnakan oleh FArid Rooney memenerusi satu freekick yg mnengelirukan keeper lawan. Payjal sekali lagi menjaringkan gol kedua peribadi semalam sekaligus gol ketiga PPTDFC setelah menerima bola daripada RAden yg menerima bola drpd Amathenry yg merampas bola hasil kealpaan defend lawan.

Pengantin baru ilang teruna lama dah dulu - RAden turut meletakkan nama sebagi penjaring semalam apabila menyudahkan bola hantaran Ajak. Bola rembatannya mengelirukan golkeeper kerana ingat RAden nk pass kat sesapa tp dia shoot pulak. Keeper rooted to the spot dn hanya mampu melihat bola terkena tiang dan masuk ke dalam gol.

Amathenry hampir menambah gol kelima apabila Ajak Massage membuat hantaran lintang. AMathenry yg masuk ke dalam D menanduk kencang namun tandukannya sekadar menggegar palang gol. Gerbang berjaya memperoleh gol ketiga setelah sekali lagi Abg JAli mengulangi kesilapan sarkasnya spt 1st half. Kali ini bola clearance beliau terus kpd pemain lawan dan tak teragak2 nak menyecore setelah gol ternganga luas. Perlawanan tamat setelah encik referee dengan rambut mohicannya meniup wisel.

Perlawanan semalam menyaksikan beberapa aksi terpuji Ajak yg bermatian2 sbg lastman menyekat serangan pihak lawan. DApat pujian pihak lawan tu. TAhniah. Defend lain pun turut beraksi cemerlang.

Abg JAli main ok smlm. Bnyk jugak save cantik tp kesilapan2 mudah yg dibuat x sepatutnya dibuat mencacatkan performance.

Penalti - tak apa Wak. Beckham pun sepak penalti x masuk. Coba lagi lain kali.

TAjul - ko mmg klakar. Tak pernah lagi ada setakat ni defend bawak dari bawah sampai atas, mengelirukan lawan dan kawan samapi bola hilang dr kaki serta kehausan stamina sendiri nak shielding bola sehinggakan semuaorang tak dapat nak dikesan dan duga apakah motif sebenar yang ko cuba buat.

Amathenry di sini turut ingin meminta maaf di atas peluang2 gol yg disia2kan semalam. Memang banyak tp smlm tak tau la apasal shooting semua out. Akan cuba lagi next match.

Yaaa...it's 1313 hrs...it's Monday...it's 180808...

Salam everybody...for the past few years...I was thinking that I could put my writings somewhere...just to express my feelings, my stands, my everything. With all the available gadgets, it was left as sweet dreams since the time is always not at my side...hehehe..."Berkhidmat Untuk Negara" in our simple words.

So, at this great time...this green screen is born to join the world of virtual writings. As an amateur writer...it's my pleasure to have your attention, your sincere opinions about my writings, my language, my stands, my everything. I do hope that the sharing among us will benefit all of us in whatever interest.

I will try my best to write about golf (personal experience of course since I'm not a pro golfer), football (of course my DRC FC, PPTD FC and EPL), family vacation, environmental issues, local politics, foods or even my childhood fairytales.
